Cal Poly head wrestling coach Jon Sioredas is holding a satellite wrestling camp in town from Aug 9-11.

In less than a month, a handful of local wrestlers will be able to pick up some tips and tricks from one of the top college wrestling coaches in the country when he hosts a three-day camp in Goldendale in mid-August.

Cal Poly head coach Jon Sioredas will be in Goldendale for a three-day satellite camp from Aug. 9-11 to help instruct a group of 30-35 grapplers.

"It's definitely a huge opportunity for Goldendale," Goldendale Grapplers Youth Wrestling Club President Rachele Williams said. "We want to be able to host a camp every year."

Goldendale Grapplers Youth Wrestling Club head coach Chris Williams began talking to Sioredas a few months ago about the chance he could host a camp in Goldendale. Each summer, Sioredas hosts a handful of satellite camps along the west coast, and decided to host one in Goldendale after finding out there would be enough interest.

Sioredas will enter his third season as the head coach at Cal Poly, an NCAA Division I school in San Luis Obispo, California, next season.

Before coaching at Cal Poly, where he led the team to its first Pac-12 individual title in five years in 2017, Sioredas was an NCAA Division I All-American at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
