SO THERE YOU ARE: The 2018 fall bird migration count for Klickitat County happens soon. This Tree Swallow posed for the camera during last year's count.

One Merlin, one Peregrin, and one Prairie Falcon each were spotted in Klickitat County last fall. Sorry, no Maltese. There were 45 American Kestral Falcons spotted. There were also a gazillion other birds spotted-well, 125 different species, to be exact.

That's according to the tally compiled by Randy Robinson from the Fall 2017 Klickitat County North American Migration Count. This year's is about to begin, and the word is out for participants to grab their binoculars and field guides. The date for this fall's count is Sept. 15, and you can enlist in the effort by contacting Bob Hanson at bobhansen@peak.org.
