Glenwood fared well at the Fair

August 29, 2018

The 2018 Klickitat County Fair is over but the memories for many Glenwood kids will last forever. Wow! The Glenwood participants had a great fair, winning many great awards. We’ll try to have a more complete list next week, but we know that Jayla and Anthony Avila and Riley and Bailey Rickman did very well on their sewing projects. Emmerson Gimlin also had a sewing entry and received both a Judge’s Choice award and Grand Champion for her high-low dress. Emme also received Top of Show and Judge’s Choice award for her banana bread, Outstanding Entry for her drop cookies, and Grand Champion ribbons for her brownies.

Joslyn Arnold received Reserve Champion for her steer, Murray. Macie Lorton received an award for Reserve Champion in Showmanship and also received a buckle. Four-year old Jentry Hoctor received two Reserve Champion ribbons for Lead Line and Lead Line Costume. For the costume competition, Jentry went as Princess Anna from “Frozen” and her good horse Badger wore antlers, a furry white chest vest, and hooves as the reindeer Sven. Oh, what those patient horses have to endure for their kids. Jentry also received a blue ribbon for her “Rainbow Rodeo” picture done in colored pencils.

Jocee Hoctor, received several ribbons for her horse class competitions, including five Reserve Champion and three Grand Champion ribbons. Jocee also received a ribbon for overall Reserve High Point in her age group and a buckle. To top off a great fair for Jocee, she received a Judge’s Choice award and blue ribbon for the photograph she entered. We want to give a huge thanks to all the individuals and businesses who contributed to the Market Stock Sale fund for our Mt. Adams 4-H kids. Your support really helps the kids with livestock entries do well in the sale.

Here’s one more reminder, the Glenwood Homemakers will once again hold the Fall Bazaar on Oct. 20 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Vendors should contact Jennifer Hallenbeck at (509) 364-3517 to reserve a space. Now is the time to start making plans for your bazaar space, whether you are an individual, a business, or a group. It’s a great opportunity and fun social gathering.
