August temps higher

According to preliminary data received by NOAA’s National Weather Service in Pendleton Oregon, temperatures at Goldendale averaged slightly warmer than normal during the month of August.

The average temperature was 68.5 degrees which was 1.3 degrees above normal. High Temperatures averaged 86.7 degrees, which was 2.0 degrees above normal. The highest was 105 degrees on the 10th. Low temperatures averaged 50.4 degrees, which was 0.7 degrees above normal. The lowest was 39 degrees, on the 26th.

On 12 days, the temperature exceeded 90 degrees. It was at least 100 degrees on 2 days.

Precipitation totaled 0.00 inches during August, which was 0.28 inches below normal.

Precipitation this year has reached 7.57 inches, which is 1.79 inches below normal. Since October, the water year precipitation at Goldendale has been 14.68 inches, which is 2.01 inches below normal.

The highest wind gust was 23 mph which occurred on the 11th.

The outlook for September from NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center calls for near normal temperatures and below normal precipitation. Normal highs for Goldendale fall from 81.0 degrees at the start of September to 71.0 degrees at the end of September. Normal lows fall from 46.0 degrees to 38.0 degrees. The 30-year normal precipitation is 0.53 inches.
