County wine project in Goodnoe fermenting

A group of vintners and investors hopes to turn eastern Klickitat County into wine country.

The group formed the company V75 LLC and is preparing to establish a vineyard east of Goldendale. Its longterm goal is to work with other partners to develop a resort and winery on the banks of the Columbia River.

The new vineyard, where planting is expected to begin next year, joins Chateau Ste. Michelle’s vineyard at Chapman Creek, a move V75 CEO Steve Kelley hopes will enhance the region’s wine reputation, as well as generate tourism.
