Goldendale hosted Gorge Youth Football games last weekend for the first of two times this season, with the second home games slated for Oct. 6.

Saturday's first game between Goldendale and The Dalles Gray saw the road team jump out to a 12-0 lead after the first half. Goldendale wasted no time on its first possession of the second half, scoring a touchdown while kicking the PAT to cut the lead to 12-8. Goldendale got the ball back with six minutes left in the game after its defense stopped The Dalles, and with 2:39 left in the game scored the go-ahead touchdown that put them on top 14-12.

A few hours later, Goldendale's third and fourth grade team finished in a 6-6 deadlock with The Dalles Maroon. Isaac Tuning scored the team's touchdown.

This weekend, Goldendale and the rest of the Gorge Youth Football League will be in Stevenson for another full day of football. Goldendale's fifth and sixth grade team will start at 10:30 a.m. against Hood River Blue while the third and fourth grade team matches up with Stevenson at noon.
