Portland Oregonian – Goldendale Representative writes; Robert Watson, an extensive wheat grower of No. 6, will haul much of his crop to Lyle this fall over the present roads, where, in selling he will receive more on the bushel than is paid at Columbus or Grant. It is generally predicted that if Goldendale should fail to get a railway connection, and the proposed Lyle Wagon Road is well built, the trade and shipments will be diverted to Lyle from Grant. Many farmers have said that this is the last grain handling to Columbus, as Lyle has, all through the season thus far, given a top price for wheat.
