Fire in High Prairie contained

A fire broke out near Adams View Rd around 5:15 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 14, as a result of an out-of-control burn pile. High Prairie Fire Chief Tim Darland arrived on scene at 5:23 p.m. and estimated the fire burned two acres at that time.

Darland called for mutual aid from Centerville Fire due to the moderate rate of fire spread and two structures threatened. Apparatus from High Prairie Fire and Lyle Fire arrived on scene, and the fire was quickly contained at approximately 5:45 p.m., and the mutual aid request to Centerville Fire was cancelled. Mop-up of the fire was completed around 6:45 p.m. Final burned area totaled 3.6 acres of grassland, and no structures were lost.
