John Clark Wheelon (Doc) passed away Oct. 8, 2018, at Toppenish Hospital. John was born in Toppenish on May 26, 1949, to Carl and Ruth Wheelon. Soon after John was born, he moved to Pouslbo, Washington, with his parents and older brother, David. After his father became a superintendent of schools, the family moved to Glenwood, Waterville, and then to Goldendale, where John graduated in 1967. After his graduation, John went to college at Yakima Valley College for two years and then transferred to Central Washington University, where he graduated with honors in 1972 in Child Psychology.

John moved to Alaska to work the pipeline and met his wife, Susan Dolsen, of 17 years. They moved to Goldendale where they married in 1987 and purchased the Simcoe Cafe & Desert Room in 1988. John and Sue welcomed their first child, a daughter, Carlee Don Wheelon on March 15, 1994. They had two more daughters: Katherine Ruth Wheelon on July 8,1997, and Tasha John Wheelon on Oct. 28,1998. John and Sue divorced in 2004 when he then moved to Buena, Washington to his family property, where he resided until his death in 2018.

John is survived by his brother David (Debbi) Wheelon; daughters Carlee (Sean Carlson) Wheelon, Katee Wheelon, and Tasha Wheelon; nephew David Shane Taylor; and cousin Tim McCaslin; predeceased by his parents Carl and Ruth Wheelon.

A memorial service will take place on Nov. 18, 2018 at the American Legion in Goldendale (108 N Grant Ave) at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
