Did Goldendale's candidates night clear things up? Muddy the waters?

THEY WERE ALL THERE: Top to bottom, left to right, and by race: U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, challenger Carolyn Long; Chris Corry, Sasha Bentley, running for LG District 14 Pos. 1; Rep. Gina Mosbrucker, challenger Liz Hallock, Klickitat County Commissioner David Sauter, challenger Raymound Clough; Klickitat County Sheriff Bob Songer, and challenger Doug Charters.

It was the night planned months ago that took many by surprise.

Carolyn Long said that a while back, her campaign tried to change last Wednesday's candidates night in Goldendale so there could be a full debate between her and incumbent Jaime Herrera Beutler. That idea hit the wall of 11 years of tradition of how candidates nights are done here, foisting on Goldendale national visibility as the only Congressional race in Washington without a face-to-face between the candidates.

Long's campaign bemoaned that fact. Herrera Beutler, this not being her first rodeo, rolled with local custom and asserted she had accepted every invitation to appear with Long that didn't conflict with prior obliga...
