Emergency loans available to assist farmers with drought

Farmers and ranchers suffering losses from drought in Klickitat and Yakima Counties may be eligible for low-interest emergency loans from the USDA Farm Service Agency. A Presidential Disaster Designation due to drought beginning on Aug. 7, 2018 triggered availability of the emergency loans in four counties in Washington.

The primary county is Klickitat, but farmers in Yakima County are also eligible due to the county being contiguous to a Primary County.

The Farm Service Agency’s emergency loans currently have a 3.75 percent percent rate. The maximum loan amount is $500,000. They may be used to restore or replace essential property, pay all or part of production costs associated with th...
