October 24, 2018

Vesta Erma Hyder was born Aug. 24, 1921 to Mary Lucinda Tuttle and Floyd O. Thompson. She was a descendent of four pioneer families who settled in Klickitat County in the early 1870s: The Stumps, the Tuttles, the Thompsons, and the Derrys. During her childhood and following her graduation from the Crofton Prairie School, she spent most of her time helping around the farm and cutting wood with her dad. Vesta married Howard Morgan in 1940, settling in Klickitat Canyon where she gave birth to her son Howard Kenneth Morgan. After Vesta and Howard divorced, she married Moyer Bruce Hyder on June 30, 1954. A year later she gave birth to her daughter, Mary Lou. Vesta and Bruce lived on their farm at the top of Klickitat grade until 2015 when they moved into Goldendale. She passed from this world and into Heaven on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018 at the age of 97.

Vesta enjoyed gardening, doing crafts, playing violin, camping, riding motorcycles, hunting, and times at the beach.
