Trout Lake runners Makenna Stock and Laurel Peck posted top 10 finishes at the District 5/6 B State Qualifying meet in Moses Lake last Wednesday to help Mustang girls cross country team to second place finish to earn a team-bid to this weekend's state meet in Pasco.

Stock, a junior, and Peck, a senior will be joined by senior Joanna Peck, eighth grader Selah Pearson, sophomore Lydia Harpe, and freshman Emily Lopez in the Class 1B/2B girls run in Pasco.

The six Trout Lake girls also will be joined by Bickleton freshman Haylee Andrews, who earned an individual bid after her 19th place finish in the 51 person girls run.

The Bickleton boys, after capturing the District 5 B Championship the week earlier, took sixth as a team and will send three boys (Michael Gannon, Christian Arriaga, and Luke Binfet) to the state meet while Trout Lake will send two, sophomores Justin Peck and Gabe Harpe after a fifth place team finish.

Gannon, a senior, cruised to fourth place in the boys five kilometer run and will make his third straight appearance at state. He stopped the timers last Wednesday at 17:07.28 with Peck following right behind. Peck came in at fifth overall with a 17:07.8 to secure a state spot for the second year in a row. Last year at state, Gannon finished 43rd and Peck took sixth in the 154-person race.

The next Klickitat County runner to finish in the boys race was Arriaga, a sophomore who came in 13th to secure a state bid for the second straight year. Arriaga finished the 5K in 17:35.1 and three spots behind in 16th was Harpe, who finished in 17:55.9.

Binfet secured the last local state spot with his 28th place finish, setting a 10 second personal record and finishing in 18:29.6.

After Binfet, Trout Lake sophomores Shane Pearson and Evan Tattersall finished 32nd and 33rd respectively in 18:43.77 and 18:47.89, both which were new personal records. Eighth grader Trevor Collins came in slightly later for the Mustangs with a 19:01.64 time while senior Luke Court finished with a personal-record time of 19:36.56 with senior Liam McLaughlin rounding out the Trout Lake runners in 20:01.27.

After Binfet crossed the line for the Pirates, sophomore Hayden Andrews was next, finishing with a personal-record 19:36.1, 14 seconds faster than his time a week earlier. Senior Cesareo Arriaga came in less than a minute later (20:10.49). Ethan Andrews (22:53.3) and Scott McBride (29:38.6) rounded out the Pirates.
