Long concedes race to Herrera Beutler

U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler is claiming victory against her challenger Carolyn Long after Long conceded the tightly contested race yesterday.

Long conceded after Herrera Beutler's lead increased in district-wide results. As of this morning, Herrera Beutler had 133,079 votes for 52.59 percent of the vote, to Long's 119,983 votes and 47.41 percent.

In a statement issued this morning, Herrera Beutler said, "I had a good conversation with Carolyn when she conceded this race tonight, and I told her that I have a lot of respect for the vigorous campaign she ran and that she was a worthy opponent in this election.
