Twenty Goldendale High School fall athletes were honored by the South Central Athletic Conference and voted to the all league teams.

Announced early this week, nine Goldendale cross country runners, five football players, four spikers, and two from the soccer team were voted among the league's best by the conference's coaches.

All five of the girls runners were tabbed as first-team members in the SCAC West, led by three, three-time state competitors in juniors Ellie Rising, Abby Hedges, and Kimberly Chestnut. Juniors Jade Smith and Savannah Ross, who also helped the team to the district title this season, garnered first-team honors as well.

Senior Lucas Anderson, fresh off his last appearance at state, picked up first-team honors for the boys while juniors Sterling Beasley and Corbin Riley, along with sophomore Austin Williams, finished on the second team.

Lene Riggers, one of two seniors on the soccer team, was a second-team selection.

The Goldendale gridders had five guys tabbed on the all-conference team, with more certainly to come in future years with the young nucleus. Junior Corbin Bland, one of the team's few upperclassmen this past season, was an honorable mention offensive selection as a dual-threat quarterback. Joining Bland offensively were sophomores Lucas Black and Berto Ontiveros, who teamed up to help make Goldendale one of the stronger rushing teams in the league. On the other side of the football, defensive linemen Blake Waddell, a sophomore, and Matt Blain, a freshman, were tabbed for the defensive second and honorable mention teams respectively.

Goldendale volleyball had a balance of strong young and strong upperclassmen girls this season, with senior Tori Tallman picking up honorable mention honors and junior Alyssa Weis earning a spot on the first team. Sophomore Taylor Rising and freshman Rachel Gallagher also were voted to the second team by the league's coaches.

Goldendale's soccer team, after one of its most successful seasons in the last couple of years, had a pair of girls turn in all-league type seasons. Senior Lene Riggers was one of the top scorers in the league and was voted to the second team while sophomore Tiana Watson earned honorable mention honors after a strong season on both sides of the field.
