November 14, 2018
Former Goldendale runner Dillon Rising, now a freshman at George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon, just missed earning NCAA DIII All-West Regional honors after his strong showing at Saturday’s West Regional Meet in Walla Walla.
Rising ran to a 37th place finish out of the total field of 110 of the top athletes from Division III west coast schools, ending the eight kilometer (4.97 mile) race in 26 minutes, 6.9 seconds. He was the first George Fox runner to finish the race and helped the Bruins to an 11th place team finish after winning the Northwest Conference Championships the week earlier.
With his finish, Rising was just two spots back of earning All West Regional honors. The week earlier at the conference championship meet, Rising came in seventh place as the Bruins earned a share of their first-ever NWC title.
The top two teams from each regional meet as well as the top seven runners that are not a part of the top two teams all advance to the national meet.
