Community Thanksgiving Dinner tomorrow

November 21, 2018

Thanksgiving break for students will begin with an 11:55 a.m. dismissal on Wednesday, Nov. 21, and no school Thursday, Nov. 22, and Friday, Nov. 23. School resumes Monday, Nov. 26.

Dr. James Ogden’s annual free Thanksgiving Day Dinner will be held on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 22, at noon at Father’s House Fellowship, 207 South Klickitat in Goldendale.

There will be a very important Town Hall meeting for those of all ages who are concerned about teen mental health/suicide. The free meeting will be held on Thursday, Nov. 29, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Goldendale Senior Center on Main Street. The meeting is presented by CPAKC Coalition for Preventing Abuse in Klickitat County. There will also be speakers and refreshments. For more information, call 773-3776.

I had a problem with my pressure canner the other day, when it seemed to not get up to the pressure that I needed it to. After some thought and making phone calls of where to go to get your canner checked, I found that the Extension service has a certified person who can test your gauge and look over everything on the lid. Their findings were that my gauge was getting old and tired. The cost is $5 to have it checked, but there has to be a certified person there in the office who can check it. We may not have a certified person in our Goldendale office to test canners for a while. To ask questions about agriculture, 4H, food safety and preservation, or gardening, you can call 773-5817 or email Hannah Brause, the director of County Extension for Klickitat and Skamania counties and natural resources, at hannah.brause@wsu.edu.

Please email any info or story you may have for my column to heresgoldendale@gmail.com.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my readers.
