Holiday food drive coming

November 28, 2018

The Goldendale Holiday Food Drive is being held Sunday, Dec. 9. It is an annual tradition and a joint effort of Goldendale Junior Community Chamber, Klickitat County Rural 7 Fire and Rescue, and Goldendale Fire Department. Beginning at noon, fire trucks and accompanying GJCC trucks will make their way through the residential streets of Goldendale gathering non-perishable food items. All donations are going directly to the Washington Gorge Action Programs for distribution to Goldendale residents. The community of Goldendale has made this event a success for many years, helping to keep the less fortunate in our town well supplied with food for Christmas. Listen for the sirens or have food set out near the curb for pick up. If people are interested in Goldendale community events or service opportunities, contact GJCC at 250-0625 and like us on Facebook for ongoing information. Get involved, and keep small town traditions successful.

The 2019 Lodging Tax Funding Application or Request for Proposals Tourism Promotion is available now. Klickitat County is accepting proposals for tourism promotion services to be provided during the calendar year 2019 and funded by revenue from the county’s lodging tax. Lodging taxes available for 2019 are estimated to be $110,000. Selected proposals will be based on their emphasis and ability to create events and activities that will result in positive user impacts on lodging, restaurants, and retail markets in Klickitat County. The application form is available on the Klickitat County website at To be considered, an application must be complete and submitted by Monday, Dec. 17, 2018. If you have questions, call 773-7060.

If the Klickitat County Budget passes, Goldendale will have access to the Veteran Service Officer (VSO) two days a week, rather than one. VSO William Smith can be found at the Courthouse, in the Auditor’s office, currently every Wednesday.
