Kate Krause, 94, passed away Nov. 16 in The Dalles. Kate was born to Herbert and Gladys Austin in Cascade, Idaho on May 19, 1924. She grew up and went to school in Reynolds Creek, Idaho.

She worked in the Assessor's office in Marsing, Idaho. During World War II she and her mom worked at the shipyard in Vanport, Oregon. She was even on the maiden voyage of aircraft carriers.

She and SSgt. Bill Krause were married in Nampa, Idaho on March 9, 1946. They moved to Kiel, Wisconsin, and raised their family, Pat, Steve, and Donnie. In the late 1970s they moved to Washington, living in Raymond and then Yakima and were the first residents to move into Simcoe Manor in Goldendale in 1997.

Kate was preceded in death by her husband Bill, infant daughters Peggy and Carol, her parents, two brothers, and one infant sister.

She is survived by her sons, Steve Krause (Tina) of Goldendale, and Donnie Krause (Gail) of Kiel, Wisconsin; and her daughter Pat Lange (Vern) of Yakima; 11 grandchildren; and many, many great grandchildren.

Kate made and donated quilts to charitable organizations for years. Doing so would be a wonderful way to honor her memory.
