Candy Cane Lane to be heard on Main Street

December 5, 2018

Many know about the Candy Cane Lane Parade this Saturday, Dec. 8, beginning at 5 p.m. on the usual route, but here are a few things that I bet you didn’t know.

The parade will be broadcast on KLCK 1400am and from the Masonic Lodge on S. Columbus, across the street from the courthouse. But it will also be playing on the speakers along Main Street, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., thanks to Dan McCredy. The Brighter Goldendale Christmas Committee says they appreciate Klickitat County for decorating the Christmas Tree on the courthouse lawn with their boom truck, considering the even larger size of the tree now. Also, listen for the Goldendale High School Choir singing under the Christmas Tree at the time it is lit. The tree will be lit as the end of the parade stops in front of the Masonic Lodge with Santa in the sleigh. The lodge will then open to the public for soup, cocoa, cookies, and children’s books, with Santa being available to greet the kids and having a photo with him. Don’t forget that if you have a decorated home within the city limits, the judging will take place on Thursday, Dec. 6, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The Goldendale Primary School kids will receive their report cards on Dec. 6, and they will be proudly wearing their Ugly Sweaters on Wednesday, Dec. 19.

Public hearings will begin on Tuesday, Dec. 11, for the Klickitat County 2019 Budget. The hearings will be held in room 101 in the Commissioners Chambers at the courthouse. A copy of the preliminary budget will be furnished to anyone who calls 773-2331. The meeting room is accessible to persons with disabilities. Written comments are also welcome but must be received by the end of the Dec. 10 business day.
