Fire on Burgen Street contained

A fire broke out on a city block of Goldendale early this morning.

At about 4:40 a.m. (Dec. 19), the Goldendale Fire Department was paged for a report of smoke coming from the roof of a vacant home on the 400 block of W. Burgen Street. On a second page, 911 Dispatch Center updated the response to a structure fire.

Within minutes, Engine 6111 arrived on the scene of a single-story, single-family dwelling with smoke visible from the roof and the attic space. Upon entry of the home, fire crews were met with flames coming from one of the rooms and hallway. Additional trucks from Goldendale Fire Department arrived to assist and an offensive attack plan was continued.
