Happy birthday, Hazel

December 26, 2018

A true Glenwood treasure, Hazel Parsons, will be honored at a 91st birthday party at the White Salmon Elks Lodge on Saturday, Dec. 29, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. All are welcome to attend. Although Hazel now lives in White Salmon, she grew up in Glenwood and is known and loved by many here. We wish you a happy and fun-filled 91st birthday, Hazel Rose.

On a more somber note, we will have the opportunity to honor the memory of another Glenwood treasure, Bobbie Burns. A memorial service for Bobbie will be held at the Glenwood school on Jan. 19 at 1 p.m. A dinner prepared by the Glenwood Homemakers will follow the service.

Glenwood students and parents enjoyed a delicious Christmas dinner in the school multipurpose room last Thursday. During dinner, Mrs. Gimlin drew names for Citizen of the month awards. In order to be eligible for this honor, students must be “caught” doing a good deed or a helpful act. Someone notices and puts a ticket in the drawing jar for that good citizen. Those who received honors for the month of December are Cleo Maass, Jocee Hoctor, Miles Jackson, Jarae Long, and Mrs. LaVallie.

Citizen of the Month drawings were followed by announcement of the high school homecoming court. Those chosen for the court are Derek Gimlin and Bella Couch, Duly Morris and Chealsea Steineger, Kevin Bren and Nahaleigh Schuster, Micah Fitzsimmon and Emma Odom, and Tyler Worley and Brooklyn Emerson.

The next Kids Jam at the church will be Jan. 4 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Kids in kindergarten through 6th grade will enjoy a delicious dinner followed by music, games, bible study, and crafts. Call the church for more information at (509) 364-3571.

We wish all our readers a fun and safe New Year’s Eve and a great 2019. Happy New Year, everyone.
