Pirates finish 2-0 over weekend at Helix Tournament

December 26, 2018

The Bickleton Pirates made it a sweep at the Helix Tournament over the weekend, winning both its games by wide margins.

The Pirates, on Friday, topped Oregon’s Long Creek-Ukiah 69-51 with a 29 point, 21 rebound, seven steal performance from Cesareo Arriaga, and won its second straight a day later over Helix (61-40) after another strong performance from Arriaga.

The back-to-back wins in Oregon moved Bickleton’s overall record to 4-3 in varsity only contests with four straight wins dating back to the Dec. 10 win over Cle Elum.

With just one Greater Columbia Gorge League game in the books, the rest of Bickleton’s schedule is GCGL contests. After the start of the New Year, the Pirates will return to the court on Jan. 5 for a matchup with the Sunnyside Christian Knights, the two-time defending state champ at the Class 2B level.
