Gun rights meeting opposes I-1639

PREACHING TO A CHOIR: Joey Gibson from Patriot Prayer emphasizes a point during his talk at the anti I-1639 gun rights rally Sunday in Centerville.

At a well-attended rally Sunday against Washington's new Initiative 1639 (I-1639), Patriot Prayer founder Joey Gibson stated, "It's time for county rights," saying it was time for Washington counties to enact ordinances that would preclude compliance with the state measure.

The rally was held at the Centerville Grange Hall and drew a crowd that mostly filled the room.

Klickitat County Sheriff Bob Songer was scheduled to speak as well but did not appear because he was attending a funeral. Gibson called Songer "an old-school sheriff" who was vocal in his opposition to I-1639, even declaring he would personally show up-with a host of deputized citizens-to prevent anyone's weapons from being...
