Give Centerville teachers what they deserve

Many of you may have heard that teachers in the state of Washington have been negotiating with their local school boards and administration officials regarding their salaries. The reason school districts must negotiate this year is because the previous statewide salary schedule was eliminated, and in the 2018 Legislative session, the Washington state legislature allocated $2.1 billion in new funding to school districts statewide for certified and classified staff salary increases. This funding was based on the McCleary Decision, a state Supreme Court ruling to fully fund public education.
