Goodnoe Hills project still has water and good KPUD relations

A VIEW OF THE FUTURE: The Goodnoe Hills Ranch and Vineyard project sprawls across 10,000 acres of rolling hills with breathtaking views. One of the principals of the project says that comments made at a recent county commissioners meeting about the KPUD rescinding water rights were misunderstood and that all is well and moving ahead. This is a view of Vineyard 7 of the project, edging down toward the Columbia River Gorge.

Confusion flared at the Klickitat County commissioners meeting on Jan. 22 when it seemed that the Klickitat PUD (KPUD) had terminated some water rights to the Goodnoe Hills Ranch (Goodnoe) winery project, leading to speculation that the project was dead in the water. But according to Gene Callan, one of the principals of the project, the matter was wildly misunderstood.

As Callan walked the huge expanse of land the project occupies, it was clear it was not going anywhere but straight ahead. And Callan says the project enjoys a great relationship with the KPUD and the county.
