More law agents come out against I-1639

Klickitat County Sheriff Bob Songer was one of the first in Washington State to say he will not enforce the state’s new Initiative 1639 (I-1639) law, but he now has plenty of company. Even the prosecuting attorney of Yakima County now says he won’t prosecute I-1639 cases.

While it is not true that state Attorney General (AG) Bob Ferguson’s office would “be happy to prosecute” Songer—that comment, reported last week in The Sentinel, came erroneously from a source—the office considers I-1639 to be constitutional and is monitoring the growing number of law enforcement officials who say they will not enforce the law because they believe it violates the U.S. Second Amendment.
