Corry co-sponsors House bill to repeal I-1639

GIVE 1639 A PUSH OUT THE DOOR: Rep. Chris Corry has co-sponsored a bill aimed at repealing I-1639. To do so would require a two-thirds vote majority vote within the first two years of a ballot initiative.

Rep. Chris Corry, R-Yakima, says I-1639 has got to go, and he's co-sponsored legislation to make it go away.

"It's an uphill battle," Corry says, "but it's the right thing to do."

Corry co-sponsored House Bill 2103, which calls for the repeal of the controversial initiative.

"Having the initiative go to court is not a good use of our resources," Corry explains. "We need to do what's in the best interests of this district. I've received some 200 emails in support of this legislation [to repeal]."

Corry believes people were misled on the initiative. "We're trying to right a wrong here," he says.
