Dalia L. (McEwen) Wolverton

 


Dalia passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, Feb. 5, 2019, with her husband and family members by her side.

Dalia was born May 30, 1934, in Klickitat, Washington, and was the eldest of six children. She married her high school sweetheart, Harold E. (Bud) Wolverton on December 31, 1952 in Goldendale. The couple moved to Germany where Harold was serving in the U.S. Air Force in 1955, returning to the United States in late 1956. The family moved to Alaska in 1958 and was there to celebrate statehood. Dalia has resided in Anchorage since then.

She and her husband Harold have been active in their church, Gloria Dei Lutheran, since 1968 where Dalia was first Admin Assistant and was very active with youth and parish work as well as outreach to Teller Brevig. Dalia also served aid, helping the South Central Health Planning Commission. She enjoyed spending time between her homes in Alaska and Tucson, Arizona, for the past 15 years, making certain to return home to Alaska for holidays with family.

Dalia is survived by her husband of 67 years, Harold Wolverton; daughter Shan (Rob) Dudley of Moscow, Idaho; Clark (Mardie) Wolverton of Palmer, Alaska; Jeff Wolverton and Gregg (Tina) Wolverton of Anchorage; brothers John (Audrey) McEwen, Rusty (Cris) McEwen and Greg (Corinne) McEwen, all of Goldendale; and sister Shannon Hibbard of Kamiah, Idaho; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Dalia was preceded in death by her parents Pat and Ione McEwen and her brother Bill McEwen.

Services were held at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Anchorage on Feb. 8, 2019.
