District announces four candidates for superintendent

The Goldendale School District has announced four finalists for the position of Goldendale School District superintendent. Community members and school staff are invited to meet with the four finalists during sessions scheduled at Goldendale Middle School for this Friday, March 22, and Monday, March 25. The four finalists are: Gerry Washburn, former superintendent of Roseburg Public Schools; Michael Roberts, superintendent and principal of the Wishram School District; Ellen Perconti, superintendent of both the Grapeview School District and the Mary M. Knight School District; and John Westerman, principal of Goldendale High School. Community members are invited to meet and ask questions with each individual finalist during fortyfive minute sessions that will be held at the Goldendale Middle School cafeteria. Sessions will be held with each candidate starting at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. on both nights. Community members will be able to meet with Perconti and Westerman on Friday. Community sessions with Washburn and Roberts will follow on Monday. The Goldendale School Board anticipates that the new superintendent will be selected no later than April 15, with the school district’s next superintendent to officially start work on July 1.
