Cheryl Ann Dempsey passed away at the age of 66 on March 11, 2019, at her home in Goldendale. She was born in Twisp, Washington on June 8, 1952, to Leo and Lovita (Black) Buchanan. Cheryl graduated from high school in Omak, Washington, and then from Central Washington University in Ellensburg. She married George Dempsey in Moscow, Idaho, and they made their home in Goldendale. Mrs. Dempsey worked for the Washington Department of Transportation as a secretary. She was an artist who loved sewing, computers, and fishing.

Cheryl will be missed by her husband George Dempsey of Goldendale; children and their spouses Jim and Ena May Dempsey of Wallowa, Oregon; Michelle and Deborah McKenzie of Yakima, Washington; Tom and June Dempsey of Coos Bay, Oregon; and Mike Dempsey of Tangent, Oregon; sister Kathy McKenzie of Stevenson, Washington; brother Rich Holbert of Carson, Washington; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
