Mary Bruce

 

On Jan. 28, 2019, after an illness, Mary Bruce went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Mary was born on the Fourth of July 1937. She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Harlen R. Bruce; her mother Faye O. Farris; her adopted father Thomas L. Farris; her biological father Virgil A. Pitchford; and her brother Herold D. Farris.

She is survived by her son, Thomas Matthew Bruce, and his wife Cathy of Morrison, Colorado; their daughter Jessica Ripplinger and her husband Drew and their four daughters of Littleton, Colorado; and Sara Bruce of Denver, Colorado.

She is survived also by her daughter, Gale Gorrod, and her husband Kenneth of Stanfield, Oregon; their son Willi J. Gorrod and his wife Josie and their seven children of Fayetteville, North Carolina; and son Alex Gorrod and his wife Lacey and their two daughters Emma and Amy of Goldendale.

Mary graduated from Springfield High School. She married Harlen on Aug. 6, 1955. They lived in Springfield where Mary worked running the University of Oregon kitchen. Not long after her husband died, she retired and moved to Goldendale to live with her daughter Gale and her family. In Goldendale, Mary was a volunteer as a court-appointed Special Advocate.

In 2005, Mary decided it was time to spend time with her son Matt and his family in Morrison, Colorado.

Mary was an avid reader, loved NCIS, was a member of Southern Gables Church. In church she was an active member of the Not Alone Group. She loved being with her family, especially her four grandchildren and 13 great-grandchidren.

On. Feb. 11 Mary was laid beside her husband at Musgrove Family Mortuary.
