Betty Louise Cameron

Betty Louise Cameron, 79, passed away March 15, 2019 following an extended stay at Columbia Basin Care Facility in The Dalles, Oregon.

Betty was born January 16, 1940 in Goldendale to Glenn H. and Jewel (Matson) Curtis. Her family lived near Blockhouse before moving to Goldendale when she was a young girl. Betty attended Goldendale Schools, graduating in 1958. In high school she was on the pep squad as a majorette cheer leader and song queen. She was also on the swim team. She was an excellent swimmer and spent as much time at the pool as she could.

Betty married Dale Cameron on August 17, 1958 and spent her life on the ranch at Centerville with Dale and their family. Betty and Dale especially enjoyed going to music concerts of big-name entertainers in Portland and elsewhere, attending more than 40 concerts. She also played the piano and the flute and dearly loved playing pinochle. Betty was a kind and loving person, a devoted wife and mother, especially enjoying her grandchildren and her sister, Gloria.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Bob Curtis. She is survived by her husband Dale; her sister Gloria Alexander of Sunnyside; children Dan Cameron, David Cameron, Cheryl Cameron, and husband Craig Wiles, all of Centerville; grandchildren Dustin Cameron, Nathan Cameron of Centerville, Rachel Cameron of West Richland, Chelci Frutos and husband Juan of Lakewood, Washington; five great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held April 27, 2019 at 1 p.m. at New Life Assembly of God Church in Goldendale followed by lunch. Graveside committal will be at 11:30 a.m. for family and any friends who wish to attend. Memorial may be made to the charity or entity of your choice. Columbia Hills Memorial Chapel handled services.
