Corry sponsors Glenwood student as House page

April 24, 2019

Glenwood High School student, Isabella Couch, recently traveled to Olympia to serve as a page in the state House of Representatives. She was sponsored by 14th Legislative District Rep. Chris Corry.

“Isabella and her fellow page school classmates were in Olympia during one of the busiest times of the legislative session. She was a tremendous asset to my office and helped keep things running smoothly,” said Corry, R-Yakima. “Each time Central Washington students participate in the House page program, my hope is the experience inspires them to stay involved in the political process. Isabella has a bright future ahead. I wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”

In her spare time, Isabella, a Glenwood resident, plays volleyball, basketball, participates in track and is a junior firefighter. She is also the secretary for the Associated Student Body and class vice president. The 16-year-old is the daughter of Shane Couch and Heather Gimlin.

As part of her page duties, Isabella learned to navigate the many buildings on the Capitol Campus while delivering messages and documents to legislators and staff. She also attended page school every day to understand the inner workings of the Legislature.

To become a page, applicants must have a legislative sponsor, be between the ages of 14 and 16, and obtain written permission from their parents and school. Pages earn $35 per day while serving in the program. For more information about the House Page Program go to leg.wa.gov/House/Pages/HousePageProgram.aspx.
