Meeting held on pumped storage project


On Wednesday, May 1, 58 people showed up at the Goldendale Grange to hear Erik Steimle of Rye Development (Rye), Nate Sandvig of National Grid Ventures (NGV), Carl Mannheim of HDR Engineering, and Sandy Slaydon of Environmental Resources Management (ERM) explain the details of the proposed energy storage project in Klickitat County.

As described in last week’s Sentinel, the Goldendale Pumped Storage Project (GPSP) is a renewable energy plan to generate power on demand by storing water in two 60-acre, 170 to 180 feet-deep reservoirs, one just west of the old aluminum plant and one on the plateau 2,500 feet above it.
