Louise George

Louise "Louann" Ann (Curran) George "Luu Sah Qu Lah" was born on December 28,1946 to Mary Torres and Luther Curran in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She passed on April 28, 2019, at home in Goldendale surrounded by her family.

She began her early education in Yuma, Arizona (San Pasqual). Her family relocated back to New Mexico where she continued her education at San Juan Pueblo, Albuquerque Indian School, I.A.I.A, and then to Chilocco Indian School in Oklahoma.

While at Chilacco, she met a "Northwest" boy-Eddie George. After leaving Chilocco together, they moved to Washington. They were married in Puyallup at the Church of the Indian Fellowship in 1967. They moved a few times after that to Seattle, Roswell, New Mexico, Goldendale, San Juan Pueblo New Mexico (Ohkay Owingeh), then settled back in Goldendale to raise their family.

When Louise lived in Roswell, she attended school to become a baker/chef, a trade she continued when she began working at the (old) Goldendale Primary School. She left the kitchen and became a teacher aide for the Goldendale School District. She eventually settled and retired from the Goldendale Primary School after working with many children and all the wonderful staff who were like her family.

Mom enjoyed her many adventures with dad. They did a lot of traveling to visit family in New Mexico and Arizona, basketball tournaments, mountain rides, powwows, senior trips, and made many friends along the way. Mom always made sure her family spent each special occasion together from sporting events to each holiday and birthday.

Louise is survived by her husband of 52 years, Edward "Rico" George Sr .; sons Theodore (Pearl) Cachora and Eddie Jr .; daughters Loverne, Lydia, and Leah (Kip); grandchildren Theodore Jr., Rodney, Tiara Louise, Nachya, Evandie, Eddie George III, Lio Norwest, Jennifer and Jaleesa Howell, Devin Louise Maestas, Kileah and Kelias Edward Talpocken; great grandchildren Tehya, Olivia, Ethen, Dineh, Naveah, Kinsley and Abcdee; sisters Betty (Pablo) Martinez, Sandra (Alvin) Martinez, Joann (Leon) Serna, Ernest Cachora Jr, and Libby (Wes) Mosley; special nephew Jeremiah George; and special niece Marlene Cachora; plus numerous other family from the Curran, Torres, and George families.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers John and Alvin Curran; sister Vivian Daisy House; and granddaughter Colleen Cachora; her mother-in-law Atlene George; father-in-law Jack George; brother-in-laws Clifford and Harvey George; and special niece Lena Elwell.

"When you speak of her, speak not with tears, for thoughts of her should not be sad. Let memories of the times you shared give you comfort, for her life was rich because of you."

Dressing services will be held on Thursday, May 2, at 10 a.m. at Columbia Hills Memorial Chapel in Goldendale. Overnight services will be at Rock Creek Longhouse. Burial will be Friday, May 3, at Pine Creek Cemetery.

The family of Louise would like to thank the hospital staff at Mid-Columbia Hospital, Klickitat Valley Hospital, Regional Hospital, Virginia Mason-Memorial Hospital (Yakima and Seattle), Swedish Hospital, and the Klickitat Valley Hospital Hospice staff.
