Looking Back


April 4, 1889 – 130 Years Ago

We are indeed happy to announce that Engineer Habersham, who has taken charge of the engineering Department of the Columbia Valley and Goldendale Rail Road, is highly pleased with the nature of the country from this point east to Pasco. He returned to Goldendale on last Saturday evening having been in company with Jake Richardson, our county surveyor, minutely inspected the ground over the entire route and found practically no obstructions to railroad building. On no part of the line will the grade be over 100 feet to the mile and that only for a short distance rounding the head of Rock Creek, the balance being from 50 to 75 feet.
