Charles William Partlow

Charles William Partlow was born July 24, 1957, in Beaverton, Oregon, to William (Bill) and Euphama (Haynes) Partlow. He was brother to Linda, Susan, Laura, and Mickey. He attended school at Beaverton/Garden Home, where he made lifelong friends.

Chuck worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad from June of 1976 until January of 2016. He was proud to work for the railroad and often checked his "stats." He had deep roots in the railroad and considered most of his coworkers like brothers.

He started on the "Steel gang" and progressed to Brakeman and then finally went to Locomotive Engineer.

He married Charyl Grace Troutman on Aug. 27, 1983. They made their home in Tigard, Oregon, before moving to Bridal Veil, Oregon, where they had two children, Rachel and Alicia. Chuck decided to transfer to the Wishram yard, and they moved to Goldendale in 1990.

A few short years later, two more children Justine and Jakeb were born.

Charles, or "Chuck," was called home July 5, 2018, after a valiant battle with cancer. He would say, "I got to get home, I still have things to do, and places to see."

He left behind all the pain, grief, tears, and heartache in this world as he headed for "home."

His family enjoyed him for over 60 years.

Chuck loved motorcycles, Dodge trucks (especially "Old Blue," his Dodge power wagon), and old Chevy cars. His favorite fast car was the Dodge Challenger and said if he had one, he would get a green one with a black racing stripe. Or whatever color "us kids wanted to buy him, would probably work." Our dad had a great sense of humor and could always make anyone smile, even in tough times.

He brought so much joy, fun, laughter, great kids, and good food to this world. He loved to go camping and fishing; he shared this love and skill with his children and grandchildren on many camping trips to Bird Creek. He made sure us kids could bait a hook and cast a line and clean a fish better than most.

Chuck loved the beach, clean mountain air, a beer, and good company. He taught us so much, how to cook, to love each other, to "get along," even if we don't agree, and what real strength can be. "Muscle or mind, it's how you use it."

Dad was never embarrassed to say, "I love you," and he showed it all he could.

Chuck is preceded in death/welcomed home by his father, William Charles Partlow ( Bill), and sisters Susan Lee Won and Mickey Beathe.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Grace Partlow; his children Rachel Fahlenkamp (Trampas), Alicia Rebitzke (James) Justine Partlow, and Jakeb Partlow; his mother Euphama Partlow; his sisters Linda (Rick) and Laura; grandchildren: Eliza, Emily ( Rebitzke), Luke and Liam (Fahlenkamp); and numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws, all of whom he loved very much.

A celebration of life will be held: June 2, 2019, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Gorge Discovery Center, Murdock Theater & Basalt Rock Café, 5000 Discovery Lane, The Dalles, Oregon. For more information, please contact Rachel at 261-1026.
