Lessons from mothers for the whole month of May

 


In my home church, we honored Mother’s Day with carnations and special awards. The mother with the most children morphed into an award for the mother with the most children at worship that Sunday. We did away with the prize for the youngest mother, fearing it encouraged teen pregnancy. For many years we did give an award for the oldest mother present. Every year it amused me that the prize for the oldest mother would end up with an argument between two of our elderly ladies—because neither one could remember from the year before who was the oldest!
