Observatory update provided


On Thursday, May 16, at his temporary office near Stonehenge, Goldendale Observatory Administrator Troy Carpenter gave a progress report on the ongoing upgrade of the Goldendale Observatory, the nation’s only publicly accessible observatory in a state park.

The project is the first major renovation of the observatory since the facility was constructed in 1973. The telescope has been upgraded, and all structures but the iconic south dome have been demolished to make way for a much larger and more advanced learning center.
