G'dale girls 17th out of 42 teams


The Goldendale girls placed 17th out of 42 teams at the Washington Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) state track and field championship at Eastern Washington University on May 23-25. Elie Rising came out of the prelims in first place, with a time of 21.19.25 in the 800, besting top competitor Olivia Markezich out of Bear Creek by a weather-aided 1 second. Rising fell to Markevich by over 2 seconds to come in second in the final race. In the ambulatory finals, Reece Michael placed first in shot put and javelin and second in the wheelchair 100-meter final.
