Goldendale 4-H takes first in shooting championship


For the second time in two years, the 4-H Goldendale Sharpshooters took the first-place overall team trophy at the Washington State 4-H Shooting Sports Championship held in Eatonville, Washington, on May 17 to 19.

Out of the 45 team shooters present at the state competition, 19 were from Goldendale. Contestants completed 3 courses: 3D, Field, and FITA. 3D targets are foam animals placed at various distances, while field shoots are at a traditional bulls-eye target. A FITA round consists of shooting 144 arrows, 36 at each of 4 distances. The combined scores for the three events determine individual placement. There are three classes of competition.
