City changes fireworks times


One of the key things to come out of Monday night’s Goldendale City Council meeting was a reminder that an ordinance passed a year ago by the city takes effect before the next City Council meeting. Under the Revised Code of Washington (RCW), jurisdictions that pass ordinances regarding fireworks must wait a whole year for the ordinances to take effect. Last June 18, the city council passed an ordinance limiting when fireworks can be discharged in the Goldendale city limits.

“It’s only from 6 p.m. to midnight on July 4, and from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. on New Year’s Eve,” said Police Chief Reggie Bartkowski.
