Melvin McGill


Melvin Sam McGill was born in Verdel, Nebraska to Samuel and Blanche (Conkel) McGill on May 11, 1930. He was a soldier in the United States Army during the Korean War. Melvin married Donna Dorene Hansen on December 31, 1953 in Mabton, Washington. In his earlier years, he worked as a farmer, but in 1964 Melvin went to work as a barker at the Goldendale Mill. Mr. McGill liked fishing, hunting, gardening and just being ornery. He passed away at his home in Goldendale on May 31, 2019 at the age of 89.

Survivors include his wife Donna McGill of Goldendale; children Wayne Ray McGill of Vancouver, Washington, Terri Jolyn Olson, Kenneth Allen McGill, and Royal Lee McGill, all of Goldendale, and Marvin Leroy McGill of Tucson, Arizona; sister Elaine Boday of Tri-Cities; 13 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. Melvin was preceded in death by his twin brother, Marvin McGill, and sisters Audrey Williams and Bonny Findley.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on June 6 at the Goldendale Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, with burial at Mountain View IOOF Cemetery in Goldendale. Columbia Hills Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements. To send condolences to Melvin's family, please visit
