City council focuses on airport

AIRPORT ADVOCATE: Ty Ross speaks to the Goldendale city council Monday night about the city airport, emphasizing the need for help from the county.

One of the main topics of discussion at the Goldendale City Council meeting Monday night was the city's airport, which recently received a $550,000 grant for improvements. Councilors hope to increase the runway to 60 feet wide and 5,000 feet long and add aviation fuel availability. Local businessman Ty Ross has taken a keen interest in the subject and his report was the first item on the agenda. He said he hoped to get a meeting of the Airport Committee after the council meeting Monday or Tuesday with the Klickitat County Commissioners.
