DFW buys more county acres



MORE LAND BOUGHT: The Department of Fish and Wildlife has bought another large chunk of land in Klickitat County, including this stretch in the Simcoes.

The Capital Press reports the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife (DFW) will buy another 5,088 acres of timber and grazing land in the Simcoe Mountains north of Goldendale for $3.35 million.

In a story on June 18, the agricultural newspaper stated the Fish and Wildlife Commission approved the purchase from Western Pacific Timber on June 14. Since 2016 the department has bought 10,294 acres from the company. DFW says it wants to buy another 8,000-plus acres as it looks for additional funding for the purchase.
