Students excel in track and field

EXCELLENCE ON THE TRACK: Above, Reece Michael finishes his 100 meter race.

Junior Ellie Rising made 1st Team All League for her performances in the 800m race as well as the 1600m race.

Sophomore Tiana Watson made 1st Team All League for her performances in the Javelin as well as the Discus.

Both girls were inducted into the High School "Wall of Fame" for placing in the top 4 at the state meet.

Goldendale High School Track & Field brings home six medals from the State Meet-as well as a new school record.

Senior Reece Michael brought home three gold medals alone. He won the Shotput, Javelin, and the 100m race in the ambulatory divisions. Reece wanted to challenge himself with a new event this year and definitely performed well.

Junior Ellie Rising brought home a 2nd place medal in her 800m race. She broke the school record in her preliminary race by over two seconds. Rising then broke her own school record by nearly another second in the finals for a personal best time of 2:18.38. She also brought home a 5th place medal for her personal best performance in the 1600m race with a time of 5:14.28.


Sophomore Tiana Watson brought home a 3rd place medal in the javelin. She finished the meet with a personal record of 128-7, just inches behind second place. Watson also competed in the discus and placed 14th overall.

Junior Kim Chestnut competed in the 3200m race (a 2 miles race) She placed 14th overall with her time, just seconds off her personal best time from the district meet.

Junior Cameron Mains competed in the high jump and took 13th overall. He tied his personal best height of 5-8 from the district track meet also.
