Companion Animal Fake service dogs

HOW FAR WILL IT GO?: The emotional support fad is reaching extremes that some are calling scams.

Dogs almost always bring out the very best in people; it's wonderful how faces light up when one enters a room. But lately a growing number of dog owners have been giving good dogs a black eye and causing very real difficulties for those who rely upon legitimate service dogs. These are the "fake service dog" owners who persist in bringing into public places untrained, ill-behaved dogs bedecked with fancy vests covered in "Don't pet" and "Service dog" patches obtained on-line.

Naturally, special privileges are imparted to highly trained seeing eye guide dogs, hearing ear dogs, and other highly trained dogs which perform an actual function for a disabled handler. These are called "service...
