Meet the Breeds – Part 3: The Cairn Terrier

Little dogs get a bad rap. Some people lump all dogs under 20 pounds as "rat dogs" and consider them shivering, yapping, ankle biting nuisances. Assuredly, there are small dogs that are spoiled, annoying, and treacherous, but within the ranks of the small breeds there are many mighty hearts and noble souls.

Enter the cairn terrier-think "Toto" of The Wizard of Oz movie. Toto (a purebred cairn terrier female named Terry) was presented in that classic movie surprisingly true to form. Toto in trouble for digging in the neighbor's garden, Toto's great loyalty to Dorothy, and Toto's carefree and fearless attitude while meeting any number of fearful things along the Yellow Brick Road.
