Opioid town hall meeting this Tuesday

September 11, 2019

Tuesday, Sept. 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Goldendale Senior Center (115 E. Main St., Goldendale) is a free, community Town Hall meeting sponsored by the KVH Opioid Treatment Network (OTN) and the Coalition for the Prevention of Abuse in Klickitat County (CPAKC).

To find out what has changed since last September’s successful Town Hall meeting, OTN and CPAKC are inviting the community to a Part Two Town Hall meeting called, “Opiates and Other Drugs of Abuse in Goldendale—Where Are We Now?”

Presenters include a brief welcome and introduction from CPAKC; Jim Jensen, the Opioid Collaborative Manager for SWACH (South West Accountable Communities of Health); Penny Andress, RN with the Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) program at KVH and Becky Twohy, Chemical Dependency Counselor with Comprehensive Health Care; a testimony from a mother who lost her child to drug overdose; and the success story from an addiction survivor.

The presentations will be followed by a question and answer time with a special panel and the audience. The panel will consist of Becky Twohy, Penny Andress, Darrell Watson (Father’s House), Anasha Gates (CPAKC), Carmen Knopes (KCSO), John Westerman (Goldendale Schools), and Brandon Fallis (Pathways Health Connect).

Anasha Gates, Community Coalition Coordinator for CPAKC, will do a Narcan Training with people who want to stay after the main meeting. This training will teach participants how to administer Narcan/Naloxone to people who overdose from opioid use.

Everyone is welcome to attend. Pizza and refreshments will be provided. For more information, call (509) 772-2735.
